It’s really hard to be close to someone who occaisonally will laugh at a rape joke, or tell one for that matter. How do we tell someone that rape is not funny? Or, how do we tell someone that a horribly callous “joke” is triggering without disclosing that we are survivors? Why are rape jokes still acceptable to tell, to laugh at, and so on?
Rape jokes = we live in a culture that has a generally permissive/at times encouraging attitude towards rape/sexual assault. Rape culture exists, folks.

If you laugh at rape, we can’t be friends. And I might smack you.
